International Chair "Cultural-historical psychology of childhood" participated in the III Congress of UNESCO

On the 14-15 December 2015 the III Congress of UNESCO Chairs dedicated to the 70th anniversary of UNESCO and the United Nations were hosted in St. Petersburg.
 
The Congress was organized by the UNESCO Commission, by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation, by the Coordinating Committee of UNESCO Chairs of Russia, the National Council of Project "UNESCO Associated Schools" of Russian Federation, the national Mining University, the Russian State Pedagogical University of Herzen, St. Petersburg University of Aerospace Instrumentation, Committee of Foreign Affairs of St. Petersburg Government.
 
Among the main objectives of the Congress were:

- Summarizing the work of Russian UNESCO Chairs for the four-year period;
- Conformity Analysis of UNESCO Chairs Organization's priorities in education, natural sciences, social and human sciences, culture, communication and information; 
- Defining participations areas of UNESCO Chairs in the implementation of Agenda for sustainable development up to 2030, as well as related educational goals;
- Review the issue of cooperation the departments and the UNESCO Associated Schools. 
Presentations of the best practices;
- Analysis of the events, organized by the UNESCO Chairs in celebration of the 70th anniversary of UNESCO. Familiarity with the best practices.
 
On the 14th December at the opening plenary of the Congress the International Seminar of UNESCO Chairs dedicated to the celebration of 70th anniversary of the organization were held.
Best Practices of the UNESCO Chair MSUPE "Cultural-historical psychology of childhood" were represented by N.A. Baykovskaya, the chief of international affairs department MSUPE. The report was devoted to the experience of organizing international activities of the Department for researchers and young scientists, educational, scientific and practical activities of the department, as well as prospects of cooperation with UNESCO projects and programs in 2016. Separately it was presented MSUPE specialized scientific journals: International Journal "Cultural-historical psychology" and the journal "Psychological Science and Education".
 
The realization of the modules developed by Department of International Research Master's program "Cultural-historical psychology and activity approach to education" drew a particular interest.
 
The General Secretariat of UNESCO (Senior Program Assistant UNESCO Secretariat - Ms. I.Nishanyan) was proposed UNESCO Chair MSUPE "Cultural-historical psychology of childhood" to make the expert link in the development cooperation subnet UNESCO Chairs, working in the direction of psychological and pedagogical training education workers and social services. The materials about the development of UNESCO Chair MSUPE "Cultural-historical psychology of childhood", proposals for cooperation and an invitation to the international events MSUPE organized in 2016 on the 120th anniversary of Vygotsky will be transferred on a network of Russian and foreign UNESCO Chairs.
 
With the leadership of the project "UNESCO Associated Schools" (Executive Director of the "UNESCO Associated Schools" in Russian Federation - Ms. N.Larionova) a proposal for development of cooperation with the UNESCO Chair MSUPE "Cultural-historical psychology of childhood" was announced in the direction of joint projects Chairs and UNESCO Associated Schools to improve the skills of teachers and administrators of educational institutions (courses, practice-oriented training modules).
 
The work of the Congress was continued by the three breakout sessions (round tables), in which the delegates were able to share their experience in the international departments of education, science and socio-cultural issues, to discuss prospects for cooperation and development of joint programs, as well as to establish useful contacts.
 
On 15th December solemn closing of the II All-Russian Congress were held, it was attended by the General Director of UNESCO Irina Bokova, executive secretary of the Russian National Commission for UNESCO Grigory Ordzhonikidze, the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Fortov, Chairman and President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli and others. The Executive Secretary of the Russian National Commission for UNESCO Grigory Ordzhonikidze, read out a greeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
 
The UNESCO General Director Ms. Irina Bokova told in her speech about the meeting with the President of Russia V.V. Putin on the eve of the IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. She outlined the key prospects and the value of cooperation between Russian and foreign UNESCO Chairs. "We are proud of UNESCO Chairs in Russia. There are 56 departments – that is the largest number of departments in a Member State of UNESCO. When we speak about UNESCO we have in our mind not only the headquarters in Paris. I think that during these days UNESCO was here in St. Petersburg ", - she said.
 
At the end of the Congress a final document was adopted. It included the recommendations for further joint networking departments in collaboration with the educational organizations - participants of the project "UNESCO Associated Schools" in the Russian Federation.

On 27-28 June 2016 MSUPE with the official support of UNESCO Commission of Russian Foreign Ministry will host an international symposium dedicated to the 120th anniversary of L.S. Vygotsky "Scientific school of L.S.Vygotsky: traditions and innovations".
